ITV Play Selects Limelight Delivery Platform For its First Streaming TV Channel In The U.K.
LONDON, ENGLAND-May 15, 2006 – Limelight Networks, the world’s leading content delivery network for digital media, today announced it has been selected by ITV plc, a leading U.K. media company, as the platform for delivering ITV Play live on the internet. ITV Play is ITV’s brand of interactive content across its broadcast channels: late night slots on ITV1 and ITV2 alongside a recently launched dedicated ITV Play channel on Freeview channel 35 as well as mobile and online. Leveraging the high-capacity Limelight platform, the ITV Play channel is also accessible through the dedicated portal on ITV.com. This is the first ITV channel to be offered via live Internet streaming; it is also ITV’s first non advertising-funded channel.

The ITV Play channel is available on channel 35 on Freeview. Launch programmes include The Mint and This Morning Puzzle Book. Friends Reunited and the Rovers Return Pub Quiz will launch in May. ITV Play programmes also air after midnight on ITV1 and ITV2. Times may vary depending upon schedule.
ITV Play has been created by ITV’s Consumer team (ITVC). Led by Jeff Henry, ITVC is expanding ITV’s family of channels to encompass interactive, mobile, broadband and other new services.
