Limelight Networks’ High Performance CDN Selected for Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions (MDAS)
Supporting the Stable Distribution of Large-Sized Internet Advertisements
TOKYO, JAPAN – Jan. 29, 2008 – Limelight Networks (NASDAQ: LLNW), the leading content delivery network (CDN) for digital media, announced today that Microsoft Co., Ltd., Microsoft’s Japanese unit, has selected Limelight Networks’ high performance CDN for Microsoft Digital Advertising Solutions (MDAS).
Making effective use of Microsoft media such as major portal site MSN® and Windows Live(TM) integrated online services, MDAS uses innovative dynamic advertising techniques to lead the online advertising industry. Limelight Networks will distribute MDAS advertising campaign content containing both video and audio to Internet users.
Online advertising campaigns are attracting keen interest in recent years, and as advertising content continues to grow in size, stable delivery has become an increasing challenge. In-house delivery requires large-scale investments in distribution equipment capable of handling peak access levels. However, use of Limelight Networks’ CDN, which is geared towards handling rich media, enables the delivery of maximum impact online advertising experiences.
Limelight Networks’ CDN support to MDAS starts with a campaign site, “PRIUS Channel” for Toyota Motor’s hybrid car, “PRIUS” (URL: http://prius.jp.msn.com). Visitors to the site can enjoy a virtual drive, movie, and commentary function.
“Even in the event of unforeseeable spikes in network traffic inherent in advertising campaigns with rich media content, Limelight Networks’ CDN prevents media access failures and delays in display caused by increased load on servers, providing users with a consistent and high quality viewing experience,” said Shinji Tsukamoto, president of Limelight Networks Japan.
